Tablelands Wedding Venues

Love the region but not the beach?  Do not fear – there are plenty of options for you!

The Atherton Tablelands is a region just to the west of Cairns.  There are a number of diverse pockets of gorgeousness allowing you to have your wedding backdrop be rainforest, bush, farm, or even lake. The added bonus? It is a couple of degrees cooler year round so you just may be able to convince your groom to wear that three piece suit!

The area is massive and there are so many purely perfect places (say that three times fast) to have your day, so bear with me…this is going to be a long list!

Ringer’s Rest – Mareeba

Boasting 300 days of sunshine, Mareeba is about 45 minutes west of Cairns and towards the top of the Atherton Tablelands region. Ringer’s Rest is definitely off the beaten track but it is a place that is so worth it.

Upon meeting the caretaker Tammy, my jaw literally dropped at how amazing this place was. Her family has built the most perfect structure able to host up to 120 seated guests in their semi outdoor space.   It would be perfectly suited to those who are after a rustic bush wedding.  Gorgeous polished timber tables and seating are included (which Tammy’s father made – by hand – in beautiful timber) and catering, drinks, etc. can all be brought in externally.  You can even hire the old red cattle truck or horse and sulky to take you to the venue – which also includes a custom built bush wedding chapel.  Dave and Tammy really want you to feel at home and their welcoming personalities make you feel that way from the first hand shake.

It really is a site to behold so if you are looking for a bush wedding, this MUST be on your list for site inspections.

de Brueys Winery – Mareeba

Literally up the road from Ringer’s Rest is de Brueys Winery.  One of the few operating wineries in the Tablelands, it produces lovely tropical fruit wines, liqueurs, and ports all made from fruits sources locally and on site!

The Winery not only has amazing fruit orchards and surrounds for photos, but also has a gazebo for ceremony as well as a beautiful purpose built building with expansive decking perfect for a reception.  They can host up to 150 guests and have some wonderful catering options – check out their website!

Eden House – Yungaburra

Yungaburra is a cute little town nestled away in the stunning countryside.  It hosts a few great fine dining restaurants, a fantastic old pub (Lake Eacham Hotel), and is really quite centre to everything the Tablelands has to offer.

One of the great places here is Eden House.  The main building/restaurant/venue area is simply remarkable.  Fully built of rainforest timber, this place has some serious beauty which is matched with their heavenly food.  They source as much as they can locally and it really shows.

You can get married on the grounds or you can just have your reception here.  The venue also has accommodation and a spa so you can get your deep tissue massage and a foot rub before you catch some zzz’s the night before your big day.

Millaa Millaa Falls

A 35 minute drive from Yungaburra, this place doesn’t need to be dressed up.  Leave your decor, backdrops, chairs, everything at home, there is no point in competing with Mother Nature here.

With an over 18m drop, this waterfall will leave you breathless.  Do be aware that it is public land so there are permits to fill out and you may have some unexpected guests but this can normally be worked around (i.e. we will not schedule your wedding at the same time a tour bus shows up!).
